URJ’s Rabbi Eric Yoffie in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD – Rabbi Eric Yoffie, president emeritus of the Union for Reform Judaism, will be scholar-in-residence at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford the weekend of Nov. 20-22. A renowned writer, lecturer, and religious leader, Yoffie speaks all around the world on the topics of Israel and the Middle East, business ethics, leadership, American religious life, and American Jewish life.

Yoffie will discuss “The State of Reform Judaism in Synagogues Today” on Friday night, Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m., during the Solidarity Shabbat Service at Beth Israel, sponsored by five area Reform synagogues, including Kol Havarim (Glastonbury), Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom (Simsbury), Temple Beth Hillel (South Windsor), and Temple Sinai (Newington). On Saturday, Nov. 21 at 9 a.m., Yoffie will join Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor for Shabbat services followed by light refreshments.

On Sunday, Nov. 22, at 9 a.m. Yoffie will discuss “A Fresh Look at Israel’s Inspiring Story, External Threats, and Internal Challenges,” at a Brotherhood Breakfast at Congregation Beth Israel. The cost of the breakfast is $5.
