WEST HARTFORD – A staff member and several volunteers of Jewish Family Service of Greater Hartford (JFS) are among 30 individuals recognized as 2015 Family Champions by CT Council of Family Service Agencies (CCFSA). The honorees received their awards at CCFSA’s Celebration of Family Champions, held recently in Hartford.
Nancy Lichtenberg, LSCW, who has served as a clinical social worker with the West Hartford agency for 13 yearS, and longtime JFS volunteers Felice Goldman, and her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Amy Goldman, were cited by CCFSA for “consistently going above and beyond the call of duty responding to the needs of families served by their agency.”
Lichtenberg, who has expertise in the areas of divorce, custody, and co-parenting, is a Parent Education Program facilitator at JFS and leads the agency’s Focus on Kids program. The Goldmans have been volunteering at JFS for a combined total of 18 years. Felice and Amy volunteer regularly in the Kosher Food Pantry. As the agency’s designated ‘money coach,’ Jim, a certified financial planner, offers guidance to JFS clients experiencing financial issues.
“We are thrilled for the recognition of our staff and volunteers,” said Anne Danaher, JFS executive director. Just as JFS bases its mission on the Jewish tradition of repairing the world, she added, “our staff and volunteers reflect the values of the organization as a whole.”
