SWAYE

George M. Swaye passed away March 20, 2015. He was born in Hartford on July 1, 1925, son of the late Ira and Esther (Levin) Swaye. George is survived by his beloved wife Laurel (Kaplan) of more than 64 years, and his sons Daniel Swaye and wife Rita of Roswell, Ga., and Ricky Swaye and wife Marge of Cromwell, Conn., and Gary Swaye of Boynton Beach, Fla. George also leaves four grandchildren, Matthew Swaye and his partner Christina Gonzalez, Janel Swaye MacDermott and her husband Kevin, Dawn McGee and her husband Tom, and Christopher Ward and his wife Cynthia; and six great-grandchildren, William, Lily, Riley, Logan, Connor and Bailey. He is also survived by his brother Ronald Swaye and Maria Montanaro of Tamarac, Fla. George joined the Navy serving in WWII as an ensign in Hawaii, graduated Dartmouth College under the GI Bill and then entered the family business, the S&A Dept. Store in Hartford. Several years later he entered the real estate construction business and developed several commercial properties in the Hartford area. 37 years ago George retired leaving West Hartford to pursue his life-long dream. He was an avid boater and he and Laurel set out on their boat down the east coast to Boca Raton, FL from where they spent decades together boating throughout Florida and the Bahama Islands. His family takes great pride in remembering his honesty, fairness, intelligence, uncanny business savvy, and courage. A burial was held March 23, 2015 in Boca Raton, Fla.
