Hartford day schools selected for new PEJE program

Greater Hartford’s three Jewish day schools will participate in a selective program called Atidenu: Our Future, a recruitment and retention service from the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education (PEJE) that combines the latest in admissions data and assessment techniques with individualized coaching, marketing support, training and convenings.

The Bess & Paul Sigel Hebrew Academy of Greater Hartford in Bloomfield, Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford and the Hebrew High School of New England, both in West Hartford, are among just 20 schools nationwide selected to participate in the program’s first cohort.

“The Atidenu program continues to advance the objectives of Aim Chai’s Day School Transformation Fund through its progressive, evidence-based and collaborative approach to improving our schools,” said Michael Johnston, president and CEO of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford.

“Atidenu is an excellent investment in the support and success of our schools. It is an opportunity for shared learning that will ensure the talented educators we have in Greater Harford can continue to do the wonderful work of bringing Jewish ideas to life,” said Howard Sovronsky, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.

The schools’ participation is made possible through funding from the Aim Chai Endowment Campaign’s Day School Transformation Fund and a 50 percent match from The Avi Chai Foundation. Aim Chai is a joint effort to strengthen and sustain Jewish Hartford, sponsored by the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford and the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, in collaboration with area organizations and individuals.
