Rep. Brian Becker has been appointed chairman of the Regulation Review Committee, it was announced by Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden.)
“With Brian’s extensive background as a lawyer, his attention to detail, and the respect he has earned on both sides of the aisle for his work ethic and thoughtful approach, I think Brian is a perfect fit for this important position,” Sharkey said.
The Regulation Review Committee reviews regulations proposed by state agencies and approves them before regulations are implemented. The Committee also is charged with working with state agencies to reduce the number and length of existing regulations.
“Constituents continue to tell me that burdensome regulations have made it more difficult for them to conduct business,” Becker said. “I look forward to working diligently on the Regulations Review Committee to streamline and simplify Connecticut’s regulations while still safeguarding the public policy goals that the regulations were designed to protect.”
Becker, who is beginning his third term representing the 19th District, composed of parts of West Hartford, Avon and Farmington, will also serve as a member of the Commerce, Energy and Technology, and Government Administration and Elections Committees.
