Helping out in West Hartford on Dec. 25

WEST HARTFORD – Hebrew Health Care (HHC) is seeking volunteers for the its 2014 Christmas Day Mitzvah Program, in which community members take on a variety of HHC tasks, allowing staff members who celebrate Christmas time off to be with their families.

Some of the tasks assigned to volunteers as part of the Dec. 25 program include: serving sandwiches in the Main Street Café; selling candy and sundries in the gift shop; delivering breakfast and lunch trays; answering phones on the nursing units, helping out at bingo or other recreational activities; transporting wheelchair-bound patients; delivering laundry; helping in the kitchen; and more.

The program runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers may sign up for an hour or more.

For more information or to register, contact Ruthan Wein at (860) 523-3818 or rwein@hebrewhealthcare.org. Advance registration is a must.
