Sarah Popkin, 91, died peacefully in Fairfield, CT on Sunday, November 2, 2014.  She was an adored mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Born December 22, 1922 in Winsted, CT, Sarah always had an independent and courageous spirit. She and her beloved husband Ozzie raised their two daughters in Bristol, CT, where they also were the owner/proprietors of Arruth Home Decorators for many years. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Manchester and continued consulting as a decorator.  Her love of travel was well-ingrained, spanning family vacations to Cape Cod and Ogunquit, European explorations with her husband, and even following her granddaughter to South Korea at the age of 76. She is survived by her daughters; Andy (Chuck) Miller of Woodbridge, VA and Judy (Allen) Brand of Trumbull, CT, and her four granddaughters. Services will take place on Tuesday, November 4th at 1:00 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery, 660 Lake Ave, Bristol, CT. Shiva will be observed at the Brand residence in Trumbull on Tuesday through Thursday at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Hadassah, or the hospice program at Jewish Senior Services.
