SCHLOSS

Walter Amson Schloss, MD, 99, died August 24, just 6 weeks short of his 100th birthday. He was the widower of Ruth Schloss for 72 years. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Irving and Martha Schloss. He served as a Major in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his children, Nancy Marks and her husband Mark, Jane Phelan and her husband Garrett, Wendy Benger and her husband Craig, Peggy Mendelson  and her husband Alan, Andrew Schloss and his wife Irene, and Barbara Schloss; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was also pre-deceased by his brother, Stanley, and his sister, Frances.
