JCC Sharks Swim Team Rides Wave of Success

The Mandell JCC Sharks swim team dove right into the summer season with a tidal wave of successes.

A member of United States Swimming, the team from Greater Hartford came off of their first-time stint as hosts of the Connecticut Swimming’s Regional Championships, held at Goodwin Park Pool in Hartford, with several regional champions, including: Madisen Crowley, Kobe Dominguez, Tyler Grubelich, Hannah Kirk, Patrick Keith, Will Layden, Alissa Palmer, Malone Revis, Carson Raisner, Allie Keith, Emma Gullen, Lucy Benoit and Kali Dominguez. The team then went on to win the Farmington Valley Summer Championships, producing two-time champions and three new league records, held by Jamie Amell and Ian Harker.

At Connecticut Swimming’s Age Group Championships, the Sharks’ 16 swimmers finished in the top third in the state. In addition to the team’s multiple top ten finishes, Tahlia Crowley won the 100 freestyle and Collin Dunn won the 100 breaststroke. At the close of the Age Group Championships, Shark team members Charlotte Otis, Erin Shea and Tahlia Crowley were chosen for the Zone Team, joining Coach David Laudati in representing Team Connecticut at the Eastern Zone Championships in Virginia.

Rounding out the season at the Eastern Zone Sectional Championship, the Sharks were represented by Mason Revis, Abbey Fusco and Matt Traub. Mason Revis made it through four Junior National cuts and won the 1500 (mile) swim. The Sharks’ Matt Traub made the Junior National cut as well.
