Cindy Papish Gerber of Woodbridge has been named the president of the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Service of New Haven, Inc. (JFS). An active member of the agency’s Board since 2005 – during which time she served two terms as chair of the JFS Fundraising Committee – Gerber previously served as vice president of the agency’s Executive Board.

Long active in communal affairs, Gerber has also served as a JCL reading partner and has served on the Board of Woodbridge’s Congregation B’nai Jacob, as both chair of the Adult Education and PR/Marketing Committees.  She has also contributed countless hours, both on and off stage, to a dozen B’nai Jacob Players productions.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gerber is a freelance journalist whose articles have appeared in a number of online and print publications. She has also worked in production, promotional and creative capacities across various media platforms, most recently as producer for Bruce Barber’s The Real Life Survival Guide (WNPR).  During her tenure with ABC-TV, she won an Emmy award for her work on Olympic programming.

Also elected to the JFS Executive Board are: Joel Sachs (vice president); Carol Agin (treasurer); Louise Epstein (secretary); and Roslyn Sperling and Laura Elman (members at large). In addition, community members Joe Adler and Yonatan Zamir were elected to the Board.
