Democrats from around the state gathered at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on Friday, May 16 to select their candidates for office in the 2014 election coming up in November. Among those on the ballot: Governor Dan Malloy, whose name was placed in nomination for re-election to the state’s highest office by Steve Weinstein of Hartford. Some may recall the Governor’s State of the State speech earlier this year, in which he began with a story about Weinstein’s hard-fought recovery after the 2013 February snowstorm decimated his East Hartford farm. “I want to begin today with a story that I think says a lot about who we are in Connecticut, and where we’re headed,” he said, noting that Weinstein “dug in. He pushed ahead. He did the hard-but-necessary work of rebuilding. …He’s making real progress, and he’s part of Connecticut’s economic recovery.”
