Irving D. Meltzer, 90, of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of South Windsor, died Jan. 27. He was the husband of Iris (Nemeroff) Meltzer. Born in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Jacob and Minnie Meltzer. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Additionally, he served in Machal during Aliyah Bet and the Israeli War of Independence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Barry P. Meltzer and his wife Mary Ellen of West Bridgewater, Mass.; Dean Meltzer and his wife Dona of Randolph, Vt.; Jonathan Meltzer and his wife Isabelle of Dorchester, Mass., and Lynn Shapiro and her husband Jeffrey of Danvers, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Joseph P. Meltzer, Benjamin D. Meltzer and Leah Meltzer; and two ‘adopted’ grandsons, David S. Shapiro and Joshua M. Shapiro. He was also predeceased by his grandson Max D.
