Leonard J. (“Red”) Balaban, 84, of West Haven, died Dec. 29. He was the husband of Maxine “Micki” Israel Balaban. He was born in Chicago. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Judith Balaban; his children, Michael Balaban of New York, Steven Balaban and wife Kyle of San Diego, Calif., and Rachel and her husband John Burnham of Middletown R.I.; and his grandchildren, Max, Bret, Isabel, Olivia and Sophia.
