Aleck Freed, 102, of Kingston, N.Y. died Oct. 2. Formerly of Wethersfield and West Hartford, Conn. he was the husband of the late Miriam G. Freed. While attending Boston Latin School, he won a scholarship from the Boston Newsboys Protective Union to attend Harvard. Later he went to Bentley School of Finance and subsequently became an accountant for the State of Connecticut. He is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband, Daniel Rafkind of Kingston, N.Y., and his son, Gordon Freed and his wife Barbara, of Amherst, Mass.; his grandchildren, David Rafkind and wife, Valerie, Barry Rafkind and wife Annika, all of Boston, Mass., and Jonathan Rafkind of Sunnyvale, CA, BethAnn and Rebecca Freed of NYC; and his great grandchild, Julia Rafkind. He was predeceased by his three brothers: Leon, Samuel and Morris, and two sisters, Molly Liberman and Sophie Levine.
