Burnt Offerings rides again!

SONY DSCYou remember our story on “Burnt Offerings” – the Connecticut team that competed in the World Kosher BBQ Championship in New York last year, taking home prizes for Most Original Name and Best Decorated Booth? Well, the boys are at it again. Now renamed “Burnt Offerings Wicked Good Yankee BBQ” – to reflect their sponsor, Wicked Good Charcoal from Maine – this time the team represented not only Fairfield County, but the entire Jewish North, when the team competed at the annual Atlanta Kosher BBQ Competition on Oct. 6. Though Burnt Offering members David Feldman of Fairfield and Seth Nuland of Trumbull couldn’t make it, Trumbull resident Warren Rockmacher (pictured on the left) and Gregg David of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. manned the grill, placing 11th overall in the 19-team competition and ranked second in the People’s Choice category. The event benefited the Atlanta-based Community Food Bank and Community Assistance Center. Rockmacher is planning a first annual Southern New England kosher barbecue competition for September 2014 at Congregation Beth El in Fairfield. We’ll keep you posted.
