Melvin Y. Gershman, 87, of Naples, Fla. and Lenox, Mass., formerly of West Hartford, died Sept. 4. He was the husband of Sandra (Kaufman) Gershman. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Harry and Minnie (Zubrow) Gershman. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He is survived by his children, Donald Gershman of West Hartford, and Karen Klein and her husband Jay of Scarsdale, N.Y.; his sisters, Esther Gendel of Los Angeles, Calif., and Naomi Greenberg of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Stephen, Carolyn and Sara Gershman, and Julia, Joshua and Aliza Klein.
