Edith Ziffer cuts the ribbon, opening the new Hoffman SummerWood library.

Edith Ziffer, a resident of Hoffman SummerWood Community in West Hartford, did the honors recently by cutting the ribbon on a new in-house library that includes a comfortable reading room and a reading machine for those with low vision. Residents, family and friends all donated books and magazine subscriptions chosen by Ziffer and Sylvia Pasternak, both library committee members.

On the same day, another ribbon was cut by SummmerWood’s Member Council President Leah Bronner, as the community re-opened “The Club,” a room where residents gather to relax and socialize.  The revamped space now sports a “pub” atmosphere, featuring a new bar, flat screen TV, fireplace, and other accessories.
