LETTER — Baseball cover evokes memories

This year’s baseball edition of the Connecticut Jewish Ledger (“The Jewish Boys of Summer,” July 19, 2013) brings to mind a story from my growing-up years in the Bronx. We lived not far from Yankee Stadium and one of my friends had a Grandmother Tillie who never failed to tell us that baseball was a Jewish game. She knew that, she told us, because the radio was always talking about “Rosenberg” when the game was on. Of course, she was referring to the “resin bag,” but no one took it upon themselves to let her know that ‘Rosenberg’ was not a person; it was a bag with white powder in it that could be found on any pitcher’s mound.
