Norma Dombroff, age 89, of Trumbull, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 after battling pneumonia. She was surrounded and comforted by her children. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the eldest of two children. Norma was predeceased by her parents, Tillie Streger and Samuel Glassman, her brother, Stuart Glassman, and her beloved husband, David Dombroff. Norma moved to Fairfield in 1961 and in the 1970’s moved to Trumbull. She was a lifetime member of B’nai Brith and ORT. She loved to play cards and attend baseball games, especially Giants games, and loved to tell stories of her youth in Brooklyn. Norma ran a successful handbag business in Bridgeport for more than 10 years. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, and most of all with her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Robert Dombroff and his wife Elaine of Avon, Phyllis Tashman and her husband Leonard of Guilford, grandchildren, Sara Newman and her husband Justin, Erica Dombroff, Alexander Dombroff, Andrea Webb and her husband Jeffrey, Stephanie Tashman, great-grandchildren, Hallie and Zachary Newman and Samantha Webb.
She was a loving, caring, giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as our best friend. We will miss you Mom. Services took place on Sunday, March 3,
at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, in Fairfield. Interment at Loyalty Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to VNS in Trumbull, or the Dombroff Family Fund, c/o the Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, New York, NY 10280.
