Students at the Bess & Paul Sigel Hebrew Academy in Bloomfield had health and science on their minds this fall when they traded the classroom for some “in the field” learning experiences.
First up on Oct. 26 was a Middle School trip to the Travelers Insurance Industrial Hygiene and Forensics Lab in Windsor, where they learned about the important role the lab plays in investigating clients’ losses. Students toured the lab where Travelers’ clients are helped to identify, evaluate and respond to a variety of health and workplace exposures.
Then, on Nov. 13, students in grades 1-4 visited the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford where they enjoyed an informal learning experience in the Center’s digital 3-D theater and exploring its 150 hands-on exhibits and four education labs covering such topics as physics, forensics, geology, astronomy and more.
