SCHULZ

Judith Nan (Lovitz) Schulz, 76, of Plainville, beloved wife of Martin Schulz, died on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at John Dempsey Hospital. Born in Boston, Mass., Judy was the daughter of the late Bessie Lovitz Beltzer and Samuel Lovitz. Before retirement, Judy was employed at the University of Connecticut School of Law where she was assistant director of Financial Aid and director of Student Employment. For many years, Judy was an active member of the Beth Israel Synagogue in Bristol where she taught Hebrew and was president of the Sisterhood. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Judy took college courses in public administration and was a participant in Lunch & Learn Torah classes led by Rabbi James Rosen at Beth El Temple in West Hartford. In addition to her husband of more than fifty years, Judy is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Upton and her husband Carl of Middletown and Laura Rosenberg and her husband John of Avon; a son, Philip Schulz and his wife Lonni of Simsbury; and five grandchildren that she adored: Benjamin Levy of Milford, Rebecca and Jonathan Schulz of Simsbury and Bradley and Maxwell Rosenberg of Avon. Judy is also survived by a brother, Leonard Lovitz and his wife Roberta of Framingham, Mass. and a sister-in-law, Gloria Lovitz of Milford, N.H. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Bernard Lovitz, Albert Lovitz and George Lovitz.
