West Hartford native is king of the delis

Six months ago West Hartford native David Weinstein opened up a bonafide deli in the heart of Minneapolis, Minn. Now, none other than the revered “bon appetit” magazine has named Weinstein’s Rye Delicatessen & Bar one of the four “Best New Jewish Delis in America.” Rye’s “Must-Order,” notes bon appetit in its August 22 issue, is a sandwich called “The Reason for Rye” – a mouth-watering concoction stuffed with corned beef, smoked meat, chopped liver, red onion, and spicy mustard on rye. An alum of Kingwood Oxford School in West Hartford, Weinstein is the son of Stephen Weinstein of Hartford and Miriam Weinstein of Boca Raton, Fla. A graduate of Ithaca College and Tulane Law School he currently lives in Minneapolis with his wife Pam Ross and their two children, Jack, 11, and Ellie, 7.
