Greenwich JFS receives grant

JFS shopper Susan Bennett and her shopping client Nancy Dibiasz.

GREENWICH – Jewish Family Services of Greenwich has been awarded $24,000 in Community Investment funding from the Greenwich United Way for the coming year.
The grant will help Jewish Family Services of Greenwich
to provide Supermarketing for Seniors, a grocery shopping and case management program established in response to the needs of a growing number of frail and elderly Greenwich residents who wanted to continue to live quality, independent lives in their own homes, but require assistance in doing their marketing.  Supermarketing for Seniors is a free service open to Greenwich residents of all backgrounds who are 60 years or older.
“The United Way of Greenwich has been a very loyal and generous funder of Supermarketing for Seniors since the program’s inception in 1986, and this contribution means a great deal to us and to the seniors we serve,” said Lisa Loraine Smith, executive director of Jewish Family Services of Greenwich. “In economic times such as these, it goes without saying that ongoing support makes all the difference in the world to a small agency like Jewish Family Services of Greenwich.”
