Joseph Levarek, age 87 ,formerly of Fairfield and Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield. Mr. Levarek was born in Warsaw, Poland, to the late Yisrael Getzl and Rachal Levarek. Joseph, a Holocaust survivor, met his late wife, Helen Levarek, in a displaced persons camp soon after the war ended. After immigrating to the United States, Joseph and Helen settled in Fairfield, where Joseph owned a rubber stamp company supplying local businesses for many years. Mr. Levarek was a lifetime member of Congregation Ahavath Achim in Fairfield. He is survived by his loving sons, Harold (Louise Krause) Levarek of North Haven, and Israel (Jessica) Levarek of New York, N.Y., and cherished grandchildren Dr. Rachel Levarek and Kenneth Levarek.
