Two West Hartford couples will be honored by Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford (SSDS) at the day school’s annual Ner Tamid “Eternal Light” dinner, to be held on Saturday, June 3 at the Marriott Hartford Downtown. Barry and Carol Rosenberg, and Neil and Sharon Kochen will be recognized for their commitment and continued service to the school.
The dinner will also pay tribute to Naomi Cohen of West Hartford, who will be presented with the Gerald and Paula Steinberg Community Service Award, and SSDS teacher Julie Wilkins who will be recognized for her 18 years of service to the school.
The evening will feature a performance by award-winning comedian, writer and producer Carol Leifer, a veteran on the standup circuit, writer and producer of Saturday Night Live, Seinfeld, and HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show. Leifer won a 2012 Writers Guild Award for her work on the Emmy Award-winning show “Modern Family,” and was one of the writers for the 2012 Academy Awards hosted by Billy Crystal.
“I am thrilled to be co-chairing our scholarship event this year with Jessica Zachs and Lisa Fishman,” said Lauren Eisen. “As a Schechter graduate myself and a parent of two students at Schechter, I understand the importance of a Jewish Day School education, “she added.
“We are excited to be honoring families who embody the Schechter spirit in so many ways. This is an opportunity for the whole community to come together to celebrate Schechter and honor the contributions of the Rosenbergs and Kochens to our school,” said Head of School Rabbi Elliot Goldberg.
