NEW YORK, N.Y. – Dr. Janice Weinman of New York has been named executive director/CEO of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America. Weinman will take over the post on June 18. She is currently the president of Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.), a non-profit helping children and families in need.
“Janice Weinman is an exceptional executive, with over 35 years of experience in a broad range of not-for profit management, policy development, public service and philanthropy,” said Marcie Natan, Hadassah’s national president. “She comes to Hadassah with talent and substantial background in advocating for women’s, children’s and health causes that are important to us.”
Weinman was an inaugural board member of the Hadassah Foundation, which seeks to augment the work of Hadassah, by improving the status, health and well-being of women and girls in the United States and Israel.
“I am deeply privileged to be joining the Hadassah family,” Weinman says. “For me, this is the culmination of my life’s commitment to the Jewish people, to Israel and to the next generation of Zionists.”
Among her communal roles, she has served as chairman of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York. She holds a Doctorate from Harvard University, and a Bachelor’s from Brandeis University.
