CT ADL director on security in the wake of the Toulouse massacre

From Gary Jones ~

ADL is outraged and  profoundly saddened by the loss of life and injuries sustained in this week’s attack on a Jewish day school in Toulouse, France.  We know that acts of violence and hate targeting Jews anywhere deeply affect Jewish communities everywhere.
In the wake of the attack, ADL has issued a security alert to synagogues and other Jewish institutions throughout the state reminding leaders of appropriate security measures that should be ongoing and consistent at all times. We urge them to review their preparations and procedures that ensure their own security.
While the tragic events in Toulouse increase our focus on the threats around us today, ADL is constantly aware of a world fraught with danger.   ADL leaders in Connecticut have been providing guidance on matters of safety and security and are constantly working with our Jewish institutions, Federation leadership, synagogues and day schools throughout the state about their individual concerns and situations.  ADL also works to inform and educate the general population as to the threats to our mutual security here and abroad.
ADL recognizes that the murder of a rabbi and three children at school speaks to a level of hate we never will understand, but we do know we must be vigilant and proactive against it.  As a result, ADL also maintains a strong relationship with the FBI and local law enforcement and will continue to advise local institutions how best to protect themselves and their communities.
For more information please contact ADL’s Connecticut regional office at (203) 288-6500 and visit ADL’s website at www.adl.org/security, which includes ADL’s security training manual, Protecting Your Jewish Institution: Security Strategies for Today’s Dangerous World.
