Two area couples to be honored by Carmel Academy

Carmel Academy will pay tribute to two area couples at the Greenwich day school’s annual Erev Tov dinner dance on Sunday, March 11 at Tamarack Country Club.
Debbie Doniger and Kevin Sprecher, and Pam and Eric Goldschmidt will be honored for their role as school leaders and volunteers at the gala event.
“The commitment and leadership of our volunteers plays a large part in Carmel Academy’s success,” said Head of School Nora Anderson. “This year we are celebrating two couples whose steadfast dedication to our school has helped make it the outstanding educational institution it is today.”
Doniger, a Greenwich native, and Sprecher, have two children at Carmel Academy.  The couple has taken an active role on numerous volunteer projects at the school, including the New Family Welcoming Committee, the Community Building Committee, the Parent Annual Fund and the Chanukah Book Fair. Doniger and Sprecher, who are both lead master golf instructors ranked in the U.S. by Golf Digest, were also the driving force behind the creation of the Carmel Academy Annual Golf Classic.  Residents of Rye Brook, N.Y., they are also actively involved with Chabad of Greenwich.
The Goldschmidts, who reside in Mamaroneck, have been actively involved with Carmel Academy since their granddaughter entered kindergarten four years ago. Eric Goldschmidt serves as vice president on Carmel Academy’s Board of Trustees and is co-chairman of the board’s Development and Grandparents Committees. He has also held many positions at UJA-Federation of New York. Pam Goldschmidt has been involved with the Rogosin Institute in its research of kidney diseases. In March 2008, she donated her kidney to her son.
