Sylvia (Gaylor) Welson

Sylvia (Gaylor) Welson, 100, of Holyoke died Feb. 20 at Loomis House. She was the widow of Milton Welson. Born in Hartford, Conn., she moved to Holyoke in 1946. She was a graduate of Simmons College in Boston. She worked for the Hartford, CT Chamber of Commerce until her marriage and also worked as a substitute teacher for many years. She was a member of Congregation Sons of Zion and was active with their Sisterhood as well as in Hadassah and the National Council of Christians and Jews. She is survived by a daughter, Frances Welson and her husband, Thomas Osborn, of Holyoke; a son, John Welson and his partner, Katarina Kubkova, of Vancouver, British Columbia and Salta, Argentina; and a grandson, Edward Osborn of New Orleans, LA. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
