JoAnne Weiss receives Frankel Award

JoAnne Weiss of Trumbull was presented with the Muriel J. Frankel Award by Congregation B’nai Torah at the synagogue’s Friday evening services on Feb. 3.  Weiss received the award in recognition of her many years of dedicated volunteer service to the congregation.
“JoAnne has the hardest job in the congregation, talking to people about financial details and she does it extremely well, with great kindness and sensitivity,” noted Rabbi Colin Brodie, spiritual leader of the Trumbull congregation. “We are so happy to be able to recognize her with this richly deserved award.”
A native of Queens, N.Y., Weiss and her husband Robert are residents of Trumbull. Her involvement at B’nai Torah began when her son, CJ, entered the shul’s nursery school and continued on through his Hebrew school years.  During that time, she took an active role in many fundraising and classroom activities, helping out at Lunch Bunch, shopping for supplies, serving as PTO treasurer, and more.  A graduate of Sacred Heart University with a degree in accounting, for the past six years Weiss has served as the synagogue’s financial secretary.  She is on staff at Frenchtown Elementary School.
