James H. Bershtein, 87, of Hamden died Feb. 6. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late William and Bessie Burke Gamm Bershtein. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II. He is survived by his brothers, Herman S. Bershtein of Hamden, and Morris Gamm of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, David Bershtein, Alexander Gamm, and Henry Gamm of South Carolina.
