CHESHIRE – Pets came out to play – and pray – at Congregation Kol Ami in Cheshire on Oct. 23 when Kol Ami held its first Bark Mitzvah, a blessing of animals, and celebration of the reading of the Noah story in the book of Genesis. The event also promoted the ethical treatment of animals as stipulated in the Bible. About 20 families joined together to celebrate their pets and the blessings they bring. With dogs ranging from dachshunds to standard poodles, pugs to greyhounds there was a variety of pets in attendance, including one goldfish in his “travel bowl.”
