By the numbers: Marriage, Israeli style

How do Israeli Jews view the relationship between their government and the institution of marriage? The Israel Religion and State Index 2011, conducted for Hiddush-Freedom of Religion in Israel by the Smith Research Institute, reveals some interesting trends.

62% of Israeli Jews say civil and non-Orthodox marriages should be recognized in their country.

52% support same-sex marriages.

56% of Israeli Jews are in favor of a separation of state and religion.

61% of Israeli Jews support equal recognition of conversions conducted by all Jewish denominations
