Are you the “needle in a haystack” match who could help save someone’s life?
A young Jewish mother who is a member of Yale’s community is currently searching for just such a match. A worldwide network of bone marrow registries is being used to try to find a match for the transplant that would greatly help this individual’s chances of winning the battle against acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Motivated by this situation, the Slifka Center community at Yale is launching a drive and encouraging everyone to get registered– it’s just a cheek swab! Becoming a registered member enables you to be included in searches when people are looking for a potentially lifesaving match.
The bone marrow drive will be held on Monday, October 10, 11 am-7pm at the Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale, 80 Wall St., New Haven.
