Baking a batch of mitzvot in Bloomfield

Students at the Sigel Hebrew Academy in Bloomfield show off gift packages.

Students at the Sigel Hebrew Academy in Bloomfield show off the gift packages of cookies, brownies and rugelach that they baked as part of a special Tikkun Olam fundraising project, funded in part by grants from Hasbro and Kid Care.  The students in grades 1 – 8 donated the tasteful treats to the Jewish Children’s Service Organization (JCSO), a local organization that assists Jewish children in the greater Hartford area with funds for basic needs, such as food and clothing. JCSO also provides scholarships for camps and college, gifts for Chanukah and backpacks at back to school time.
