FAIRFIELD- In celebration of Daniel Pearl Music Days, the six-man Jewish a cappella group Six13 will perform at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m.
The New York-based group has recorded four award-winning albums, singing everything from Sabbath songs to Israeli favorites to hip-hop and rock-and-roll. Six13’s new album, “Zmanim,” features guest appearances on lead vocals from 8th Day, Yitzy Spinner, Aryeh Kunstler, Pey Dalid and Jewish Star junior finalist Shmuly Brafman.
Sponsored by Fairfield University’s Carl and Dorothy Bennett Center for Judaic Studies, the free event is part of an international network of concerts honoring the legacy of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was murdered by Al Qaeda terrorists in Pakistan in 2002.
“This concert is an opportunity to remember Daniel Pearl, a music lover and violinist who fostered understanding of different cultures through his work as a journalist,” said Ellen M. Umansky, Ph.D., chair of the Bennett Center and professor of religious studies.
The concert is free, but reservations are requested. For more information or to reserve seats call (203) 254-4000, ext. 2066
