The sound of a new year

Leslie Novis sounds the shofar

Leslie Novis, a resident at The Jewish Home of Fairfield County prepares to welcome the New Year, 5772, by blowing of the shofar, as Home residents Regine Arouete and Harry Shell, and Rabbi Stephen Shulman, director of pastoral services, look on. “The shofar is blown to stir our souls to the work we need to do to help heal and repair the world as God’s partners in the ongoing work of creation,” explained Shulman. “Shofar blasts will be heard in The Jewish Home synagogue, in synagogues throughout Fairfield County and in synagogues around the world alerting us, inspiring us and motivating us as we celebrate the start of the New Year.”
