Mishkan Israel names new religious school director

HAMDEN — Michelle Goldstein, a special education teacher in the public school school system, has been appointed religious school director of Congregation Mishkan Israel in Hamden.
Goldstein has been a long-time teacher at the Mishkan Israel school, as well as a youth group advisor and a program director at several summer camps. She earned a BA in English and a BS in elementary/special education from the University of Hartford, and an Masters of Education from the University of Phoenix.
In announcing her appointment, the board referred to Goldstein as a “home grown educator” who grew up in the congregational community.
“Her energy, enthusiasm, creativity and love of Judaism can be seen in all her work,” sais Rabbi Herbert N. Brockman, the congregation’s spiritual leader. “We take much pride in her accomplishments and feel secure that, under her direction and with the support and dedication of our extraordinary faculty, our religious school and its programs will continue to thrive and, in fact, grow from strength to strength.”
“I look forward to the smiling faces of our students and observing the incredible teaching provided by our faculty,” said Goldstein. “Our community is blessed to have so many caring and dedicated educators standing at the front of their classrooms. It is a privilege to be able to lead them.”
