
Laura Ziskin
LOS ANGELES, Calif.- Laura Ziskin, a film producer whose films include the “Spider-Man” movies and “Pretty Woman,” died at her home in Santa Monica on Monday, June 13. She was 61.
Over a 35-year career, Ziskin was producer or executive producer of films such as “No Way Out” with Kevin Costner and “As Good As It Gets,” which won Oscars for Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. She was working on her fourth “Spider Man” movie at the time of her death.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, Ziskin became an activist, forming the group Stand Up to Cancer with other women in the entertainment industry and media.
Ziskin was also a three-time Emmy nominee and the first woman to solely produce the Academy Awards telecast in 2002. She also produced the show in 2007.
Ziskin is survived by her husband, screenwriter Alvin Sargent.
