Alexa Cohen named director of Bridgeport preschool

Alexa Cohen has been named director of the Early Childhood Center (ECC) of Congregation B’nai Israel in Bridgeport. Cohen, who joined the ECC staff as a teacher in 2004, will assume her new post on July l. Prior to joining the B’nai Israel staff, she served as the director of the Early Childhood Department at the JCCS in Bridgeport.
“We are confident that Alexa will continue the wonderful program that Gail Weinstein started over 25 years ago and that she will be a strong addition to our professional staff,” said  B’nai Israel president Mark A. Kirsch and Julie Pressman, chair of the search committee, in a statement announcing Cohen’s appointment.
Cohen holds a B.A. in psychology from Southern Connecticut State University, with a Concentration in Early Childhood Education.  She has a National Administrator Credential from the National Child Care Association, as well as Connecticut Head Teacher Certification.
