HARTFORD – Altogether, about 125 teams – including those from the U.S., Israel, Canada, China, Indonesia, Mexico and Portugal – are expected to participate in the 18th Annual Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest, one of the premier robotics events in the world. The event will kick off at Trinity College in Hartford on Saturday, April 9. Forbes.com says it has scoured the globe for robot competitions and it listed Trinity’s as among the top five.
Although fire fighting continues to be the main attraction at Trinity’s annual robot competition, assistive robotics whose goal is to aid people with special needs and improve the quality of their lives has also taken on an important role in the competition.
The Israeli team has been especially successful at the competition, taking first place in last year’s event. As in the past, the greater Hartford Jewish community is hosting members of the Israeli team in their homes.
