Harry Marvit, 97, of Peabody, Mass., formerly of West Hartford, CT. died at home on Tuesday, April 12. Mr. Marvit was born in Poland, raised in New York and graduated from City College of New York. He served in the Army during World War II. He lived in West Hartford most of his life until he and his wife moved to Woodbridge Assisted Living Center in Peabody three years ago. He was an accountant and worked as a tax examiner for the State of Connecticut. Mr. Marvit was an avid gardener and a longtime member of Beth David Synagogue in West Hartford. Mr. Marvit was the husband for almost 70 years of Elsie (Weiss) Marvit. He was the father of Janice and her husband Dr. Kiva Skolnick, and Marian Marvit. He is also survived by grandchildren Daniel and his wife Janet Skolnick, Michael and his wife Meghan Skolnick, and Robert and his wife Suzanne Skolnick. He was the proud great-grandfather of Sophia, Maxwell, Lacey, Thomas, Joseph, Brad and Devin Skolnick. Mr. Marvit was also the brother of the late Goldie Leff, Julius, Sol and Irving Marvit. Services were held at Temple B’nai Abraham 200 East Lothrop St. Beverly, Mass. on Thursday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, Mass. 01923.
