Over 250 local residents – including Congressman Jim Himes – were on hand to pay tribute to several community leaders at the Chabad Lubavitch annual gala on Saturday evening Jan. 29 at The Inn at Longshore in Westport. Allison and Ken Gruder of Fairfield were honored with Chabad’s Community Service Award, while Leslie and Brian Gold of Westport took home the Champion of Children Camp Gan Israel Award.
“It was a record turnout and we raised record funds for Camp Gan Israel and the Center’s other Jewish educational programs,” said Rabbi Yahuda Kantor. “In trying economic times like these, scholarships to Camp Gan Israel are vitally important to the Jewish education of our children.”
