NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jay Leipzig of Leipzig Consulting, L.L.C., a former executive director of the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center (now the Mandell JCC), has been appointed senior philanthropic advisor of American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (AABGU). He will be working primarily with the organization’s greater New York region.
“Jay is one of the top strategic consultants in the donor development arena and has an extraordinary number of contacts in the Jewish philanthropic world, as well as experience in high-level donor programs,” AABGU Executive Vice President Doron Krakow explained. “We’re fortunate to have him on board.”
Prior to establishing his own consulting firm, where he helps nonprofit organizations, such as the Foundation for Camp and Maccabi USA, streamline their operations and develop financial resources, Leipzig served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of The American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science for 10 years. In the 1980s and 1990s, he served as executive director of the Greater Hartford JCC.
He lives in South Orange, N.J. with his wife Cindy Chazan, who is a vice president of the Wexner Foundation and a former executive director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. They have two children.
