Judith Kallman receives honorary degree from U of New Haven

WALLINGFORD – Judith Alter Kallman of Greenwich was awarded a Doctor of Human Letters at the University of New Haven Winter Commencement on Sunday, Dec. 18. In an address to the 400 people in attendance at the graduation, Kallman spoke about the importance of inclusion and how quickly hate can spread from the act of bullying.

A noted lecturer, Kallman is the author of A Candle in the Heart, which chronicles her childhood growing up in German-occupied Europe during World War II. Her memoir has been showcased at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, and at teacher training workshops and libraries across North America, Israel and Europe.
