JFS New Haven Food Pantry chills

The Jewish Family Service of New Haven Food Pantry is the proud owner of a new commercial size refrigeration unit, thanks to an Equipment Capacity Grant from the Connecticut Food Bank, in partnership with Feeding America and General Mills Foundation. The unit will allow the pantry to expand distribution of fresh produce, fruits and dairy products to those in need. In just the first month following installation of the refrigerator, the pantry distributed approximately 1,170 lbs. of fruits and vegetables. Currently, the pantry helps more than 300 needy families monthly. Pictured here are JFS volunteers Michaela Haynie (left) and Maegan Glover stocking produce in the new refrigerator.
