Basketball superstar Doron Sheffer, who formerly played for the UConn Huskies and Maccabi Tel Aviv, visited Connecticut recently, where he was guest speaker at an evening event hosted by Chabad House at UConn at the West Hartford home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Black. Sheffer, who was known as “The Ice Man,” spoke about his accomplishments and challenges on the court, his battle with cancer and his Jewish journey. Those in attendance recalled the sense of Jewish pride they shared when Sheffer graced the UConn court.
