Andrew Banoff, head of Jewish Senior Services, receives LeadingAge CT award

BRIDGEPORT – Andrew H. Banoff, president and CEO of Jewish Senior Services, in Bridgeport has been named the recipient of the LeadingAge Connecticut Spirit of Innovation Award.

In receiving the award at the LeadingAge Connecticut annual meeting, Banoff was cited for his leadership role in spearheading “The Journey Home,” a project that involved the development of The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus on Bridgeport’s Park Avenue and transforming The Jewish Home into a fully integrated senior living continuum of care.

In addition to providing seniors and their families with a wide array of services, the campus, which opened in 2016, is home to Connecticut’s first Household Model nursing home and assisted living community. The model includes 23 households and accommodates 14 residents in private rooms and baths. Residents also have consistent staffing and are provided with individualized care in a home setting.

Under Banoff’s leadership, The Jewish Home is now transitioned to a Jewish Senior Services (JSS) umbrella, with a scope of services that has grown to include The Jewish Home (skilled nursing and post-acute rehab), Les and Roz Goldstein Assisted Living Residences, Friedman Home Care Agency (Medicare-certified and non-Medical Home Care), Chaifetz Family Hospice, Adult Day Program, Outpatient Rehabilitation, Institute on Aging and physician practice services, the Center for Elder Abuse Prevention, Senior Choice at Home (CCRC at Home) program, and Home Together (Adult Family Living Homes). JSS community services include the J Fitness Center and Child Development Center.

Andrew Banoff is a Fellow in the New York Academy of Medicine and the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is a member of the Board of Directors of several organizations, including the Association of Jewish Aging Services (AJAS) and the Connecticut Alliance for Long Term Care (CALTC).

He holds a bachelors degree in economics from Duke University and an MBA with a concentration in Health Care Administration from Baruch College.
